Sub bass systems, not just subwoofers
Founded in 1990 by Richard Edmund Lord — REL being an acronym of his initials — the company was born from Lord's frustration that his own audio system couldn't reach sufficient bass depth. REL coined the term "sub bass system" to distinguish their high-level speaker-connection approach from conventional subwoofers. Their flagship No.25 pairs a 1,000-watt amplifier with a 15-inch carbon fibre driver, and the Carbon Special brings that amplifier DNA into a more compact form.
